Hey all! Finally ready with all the details on the Fifty For Uganda - 50 Mile Endurance Mountain Bike Ride!

One of my favorite autumn rides here in Upstate, New York is a nice, brisk 50-miler on the Genesee Valley Greenway. I was going to do this in October with a few friends around my birthday, but… than I figured it would be fun to just open it up, see who shows up and have a great ride while creating awareness and raising money for the Ugandan Water Project.
So that’s what we’re doing!
The flyer is above. You can SIGN-UP. This event is totally free, but I ask that everyone register so we know who is riding.
And, I ask that anyone participating hit their friends and family up for some sort of donation to the Ugandan Water Project. Best to get a “Hey, can you get me $1/mile?” donation!
If you’ve been wondering what the world of endurance mountain biking is all about, this is a great way to get your feet wet without diving into a full 100-mile or 24-hour mtb race. You definitely have to be in shape, and you have to know how to make your own repairs. You’ll also need to bring your own water, food, gel packs, etc. for the day. If you know you’re in shape, but aren’t sure about gear and preparations I’ll be posting more on that as the ride gets closer so don’t worry.
We’ll leave from Canawaugus Park right in Scottsville, NY and ride the 25 miles south on the Greenway all the way to Mount Morris. Should be a nice, mellow 25 mile ride. We’ll take a break in Mount Morris, grab some coffee, food, whatever and than head on back North to Mount Morris.
This is not a race. It’s not really an official event. It’s just a bunch of folks getting together to have fun and ride. Please help spread the word - I hope you can make it! Should be a great ride!

Hope to have this site fully live by the end of the week - stay tuned! Gonna be cool!

The Ugandan Water Project partners with individuals, families, businesses, civic organizations, churches and schools to raise funds to place rainwater collection tanks on community buildings in Uganda, East Africa. Supported entirely by donations, this small organization has managed to install water tanks in more than 20 communities and has sent teams to Africa several times a year to build relationships in those communities.
